Harsha House

by Paul Nowak last modified 2010-03-06 20:53

Location: 103 State, downtown Charlevoix, MI.

Approaching Harsha House from State Street, you are greeted by a front Harsha House Dec 2007 from M. Chavezwalk flanked with geranium-filled antique planters. The building is a lovely Victorian, painted cream with light yellow accent. In the lawn off to the right is a circular flowerbed displaying pink Spirea, Hosta and Impatiens. On the right, in front of the porch, Hydrangea and other old fashioned flowers grace the foundation. A memorial rose garden blooms on the left side of the porch steps. Stepping through the traditional wood-framed screen door you will find the headquarters of the Charlevoix Historical Society along with the museum and the museum store.

Outside, the side yard is bound by a white picket fence with Day Lily, Heliopsis, Daisy, Snow on the Mountain and other self-seeders and spreaders filling the bed with old style charm.

Seven Club members maintain this historic garden.
